Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals

The European legislation 1907/2006 REACH, concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, came into force on 1st June 2007. The law was put into place as a protection of human health as well as the environment by identifying the properties of chemical substances. In order to be able to do this effectively, the legislation states that all chemicals must be registered, so that the information is made readily available to all stakeholders.

This law touches a large number of businesses in a wide range of industries, and is highly relevant to supplying materials within the aerospace and defence industry. Pexa recognises its responsibility, as part of the supply chain, regarding this issue and endeavours to ensure that all products supplied will conform to the above regulation and that REACH will be an integral part of the business process. We aim to keep you informed on the progress of this matter and have already created 3 bulletins which can be found below.

As an overview of the major points covered in the last bulletin, Pexa can confirm the following:

  • All suppliers have confirmed that every applicable substance has been pre-registered within the specified time period.
  • Where Pexa imports such substances, it has been ensured that full responsibility has been taken to pre-register them.
  • Steps have been taken to underline which substances have been exempted under article 2 or article 6 of the regulation.
  • SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) do not feature in Pexa's product range.
  • Updated MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) will be provided.
