Pexa delivers Bird Strike Containment Kit to Protect Aviation Workers from Bird Flu - 25/07/06
Pexa, the UK and France based supplier of specialist surface technologies to the aerospace industry, has launched and made its first deliveries of the AerocareT Bird Strike Containment Kit. This kit is a complete solution to the removal of debris and contamination following a bird strike event. The key active material in the kit is AerocareT 1-03, the proven aerospace approved sanitiser which safely eliminates all biological activity including all known pathogens such as Avian Influenza. This means that the affected area is safely decontaminated and risks to workers are minimised. In addition a foaming spray of AerocareT 1-03 is provided to allow workers cleaning up bird strike to protect themselves. AerocareT 1-03 is qualified as safe and non-corrosive to the airframe.
The kit contains a complete set of personal protective equipment including disposable overalls, gloves, face-mask and goggles together with approved absorbent materials, scrapers and clean-up cloths.
After clean-up, the entire contents are packaged in the labelled biohazard bag and bin provided and can be safely disposed of.
"Bird strikes present a biological hazard to workers involved in cleaning them up, not just from the normal decomposition hazards but also from Avian Influenza, as birds migrate from all points." Says Pexa's Managing Director Jim Rowbotham. "We have excellent existing experience in using AerocareT Sanitisers for the safe elimination of biological hazards. This new kit provides the operator with an off the shelf solution for an existing problem which complies with all known health and safety requirements. Some of our major clients have already ordered significant numbers of kits to place at stations".
